EDEN PARK TOURNEY.
Some Bright Batting.—Cooper Bowls Well. Conditions were all in favour of the batsmen when the Christmas week tourney was continued at Eden Park to-day. The outfield, recently mown, was fast and true, and the turf gave but little assistance to the bowlers after tlie morning dampness had been absorbed by the sun. Rodney met a strong Auckland side on No. 2 wicket, and the visitors, winning the toss, proceeded to lay the foundation of a solid first innings score, mainly through Vipond, who was strong on the leg side. Anderson was going strongly when he was caught liy Alison Weir off the bowling of the 'Varsity captain, and P. Dunning also $haped well until he was neatly taken by Smith. Winning the toss against the Suburban Association, North Auckland ran their score to one short of the second hundred by lunch time. Barnes hit well, making many pretty strokes past mid-off. _ Ten overs yielded him 65 runs, and he punished Howell in one spell for four boundaries and a single. In the match between South Auckland and the Brabin Cup team, the first named were all out fof 60, thanks in the main to Cooper, who took five wickets for eight runs. He bowled eight overs, five of which were maidens. Auckland Colts met Pukekohe in " the country," and compiled 136 during an interesting morning's play. Scores:— RODNEY V. AUCKLAND.
