ROTORUA CARNIVAL.
AUCKLANDERS DO WELL. ATHLETIC AND CYCLE EVENTS. (By Telegraph.—Own'Correspondent.) ROTORUA, this day. Glorious weather continues for the Rotorua Carnival, and all outside gatherings have been great successes. Hotels and boardinghouses are rapidly filling up, and the influx of visitors promises to exceed early expectations. The Boxing Day amateUr sports were very popular. W. Roberts. Auckland, won the 100 yards event; L. Barke, Auckland, the 880 yards; N. F. Cooper, Auckland, the mile; A. Garlick, Taupo, the 220 yards, and C. J. Thompson, Hamilton, the 440 yards. 11. R. Dwight, Auckland, took the mile cycle, G. Clark, Auckland, the two miles, and P. Bell, Rotorua, the three-mile championship. The senior 220 yards championship was won by T. K. Lambie, of Hamilton, and the 220 yards junior championship by C. J. Thompson, of Hamilton. Then followed a mock court in' the town square, at which many prominent visitors were charged: At night there was a Maori concert, when an old-time native feast was cooked on the ground.
