Owned by Miss Pat Edwards, .the schoolgirl daughter of the rector OVptm Charity, Hants, a tiny brown and wmte mouse was recently recaptured af *? r . month's glorious liberty—spent entirely in an omnibus. . .•. The hero of the story was m ™j owner's pocket when he first escaped the omnibus. Pat, the conductor, and a man passenger hunted for the runaway, but could not find him. , , That night the omnibus was «"Jfig panels were removed, and seats smite • The mouse was seen but not caught. • For a month the omnibus was in aaii. service. Often the mouse would be seen, sometimes startling women passenge , but he always evaded capture. _. But it was not to last. At the end 01 a month the omnibus was sent to Sou™ ampton for overhaul. A panel ;AV removed and the mouse ran out. A slio chase followed, and the tiny wJKRKE was caught, unharmed, and returnea w his mistress. ;.,■. He had travelled about 4000 miles, living on .crumbs dropped by country school children. :-' !
