Ellerslie Fashions.

COMPOSURE AND DIGNITY.

Swaying Draperies.—Pastel

Shades Favoured.

Lovely weather favoured the summer carnival of the Auckland Racing Club at EHerslie to-day, and an opportunity was given to the feminine world to wear a number of very handsome creations. EHerslie was indeed a lovely spectacle. The fine old oaks under whose leafy shade patrons, between the races, were able to wander, looked as well as they ever have looked. On the lawns, there was a brilliant parade of fashions, and a further touch of brightness v/as supplied by the* gorgeous flower beds, ablaze with colour. Most of the frocks worn were exceedingly long, some even sweeping the ground, and all showed delightful swaying draperies. Wide-brimmed hats, tilted on a bandeau, some trimmed with ttny flowers that savoured of Victorian days, and others with the simpler trimmings of the present period, gave a charming 'appearance to each ensemble. The wide-brimmed hats and long draped skirts gave an attractive Old World atmosphere of composure and dignity to the course. Pastel shades were the i favourites and all tones of greens, pinks, and lemons were -noticeable!.
