"STARTED AN ARGUMENT."
"He's not a bad sort of a fellow, but when he gets too much drink he is a bit over the odds," said Detective Sergeant Kelly, referring to James Anderson Gallot, aged 31, hawker, at 'the Police Court this morning. Gallot pleaded guilty to a charge of assaulting Fanny Gortz on Christmas Eve. Mr. Kelly added that Gallot returned home under the influence of liquor and started an argument, which ended in his assaulting complainant. The magistrate, Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., imposed a fine of £1 or three days' imprisonment, and ordered Gallot to pay costs amounting to £1 18/. Time to pay was allowed.
