BROADCASTING BOARD.
HJ3ADY TO FUNCTION THIS MONTH. PERSONNEL NOT YET ANNOUNCED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Although no official announcement concerning the personnel of the New Zealand Broadcasting Board is expected to be made until after the return to Wellington of the Postmaster-General, Hon. A. Hamilton, on Friday, itJs understood that the stage has been set for the change-over from private to Government contror and that the selection of the three board membere has been completed. Considerable delay has been experienced in the appointment of the board, and it is believed that the personnel will be one of the first announcements to be made by the Government after the general election- The present company's lease expires on December 31. There is much work for the new board to do, for it will have to tenter upon the control of a large system and arrange its programmes and other questions on its own initiative. As the programmes have to be arranged several weeks ahead, it is not likely that there will be any change next month. The present staff of the Radio Broadcasting Company has been given notice that its services will concude on December 31, but as the board has not been formed the members of, the staff are unable to apply for reinstatement as no provision is made- in the Act for an interim authority. However, it is understood that the board will be ready to function well before the end of the month. . - • , ' > . _
