CAUGHT ON LEVEL CROSSING. MACHINE STRUCK BY ENGINE VICTIM A YOUNG CHEMIST. (By Telegraph;— Press Association.) CHRISTOTURCH, Monday. Fatal injuries were received by Mr. Eric Andrew, single, aged 21, when the motor cycle he was riding was struck iby - the engine of the north-ibound express- train at a level crossing at Islington, seven miles from 'Christchurch, at five o'clock this afternoon. Mr. Andrew was employed as a chemist at ■ the New Zealand Kofrigerating Company's freezing works at Islington. As Mr. Andrew was riding over the crossing the cow-catcher of the engine caught him and he was flung a distance of 18 yards. He was picked, up unconscious andwas conveyed to the Cliristchurch Hospital by the "express, but died at seven o'clock.
