UNPAID FINES.
RUDE INTERRUPTION. Federal Election Candidate Goes to Gaol. LANG AND NATIONALISATION.' (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 12 Doon.) SYDNEY, this day. Mr. Noble Kerby, Independent Labour candidate for Melbourne Ports, has been arrested on 24 warrants of commitment. These are for unpaid fines for breaches of the Motor Car Act.
Mr. Kerby was taken to gaol to begin a term of four months' Imprisonment. His friends are continuing the campaign for him. Speaking at Narrabri the Premier, Mr. J. T. Lang, -further advocated the nationalisation of banking. "There should-be no private banks in competition with the people's own bank," he said. . •■■■•;• Additional figures from all parts of New South Wales indicate that Lang Plan and other Labour candidates were decisively defeated in practically every shire and municipality where they endeavoured to secure control in the recent local body elections.
