UNEMPLOYMENT.
The causes of unemployment are many and varied, and the following are a few contributory ones: (a) The indiscriminate, discharging of employees who have given anything from five to fifty years of faithful service "and retrenched without superannuation; (b) married women in jobs whose husbands are in receipt of good salaries (no reference made to women who may be the sole support of aged or infirm relative?): (c) superannuated State and other servants doing work which should be given to unemployed individuals who are practically starving: '(d) people who have more money "than they could reasonably sjiend if they had their lives twice over; (e) labour-saving devices—no one should De allowed to put ODe of these on the market unless his extra-smart brairs can solve the problem of absorbing by employment in other channels those whom his device has thrcwrn out of work.
