ANOTHER PROTEST.
I was astounded to find that tie Caty Council contemplated making a road Ehroagi the Domain from near Stanley Street to join the existing road near tlie duck ponds ami that a surrey had actually -been made of the proposed route. It is, I think, the grossest vandalism to destroy the only existing native bush on public property in the city of Auckland. Luckily private individuals Ehow more sense of the beauties of Nature than is shown by our public bodies, for in various places, notably on the eastern side of Mount Eden, are many beautiful clumps of.native busk -1 take a special interest in the portion proposed to be invaded, as it was largely planted by my father, when chairman of the old Domain Board. Indeed, I believe he personally planted many of those now well-grown native trees, kauri, totara, tanekaha, puriri, etc, at tiie end of the jrully towards •Stanley Street. E, E.'FENTOX. '
