! PROFICIENCY PASSES. "PARENTS' DAY" NEXT WEEK. The Northcote District High School committee last evening adopted a suggestion to hold a parents' day at the school next Wednesday. The morning will be devoted to inspection by parents. The school choir will sing items for half an hour from 1.30 p.m., and this will be followed by dancing by the girls. The remainder of the afternoon willbe devoted i to sports, which will be conducted on the ; house principle, to enable all children to . take part. The house scoring most points, both boys and girls, \vill hold the Herbert Smith trophy for the year. i The proficiency examination resulted in 70 pupils gaining certificates of proficiency and 25 certificates of competency. Seventeen were unsuccessful out of the total of 112. The school roll number is 313. The chairman, Mr. H. Shaw, stated that items by the school choir would be broadcast from IYA between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Thursday.
