RACING AT WOODVILLE.

THE SUMMER MEETING. ; PROGRAMME FOR TO-MORROW. : cAXpiDATES FOR AUCKLAND. The summer meeting of the Woodville Jockey Club will open to-morrow and be concluded on Thursday. Good fields are engaged and the presence of several horses who are later due to race at Ellerslie will create interest in the meeting here.

The Hurdle Race. Thirteen are carded for the Manga-atua TTurdles. Tunbridge has not raced for some fL e but Manuiri has recent form to commend him. Princess Elizabeth was narrowly beaten by Goshawk at Hastings, and on that performance is likely to be well supported. Coon Song has also won over hurdles this season, whale Whisogne has Wen second in his last two efforts. Arrowhead and Okapua look the pick of the others. Most money may go on PRINCESS ELIZABETH . WHISOGNE MANUIRI.

The Trial Plate. Of those engaged in the Trial Plate Beacon i'ire, Flakewhite and Chief Clerk have been placed this season. They may be supported in the following order: BEACON FIRE CHIEF CLERK FLAKEWHITE. The Bolton Handicap. He Bolton Handicap field includes Gay Crest and Coinpris, two Auckland Cup candidates/ and they should prove hard to beat. The former has raced consistently this season, while Compris won two distance events at Ricearton last month. King Colossus won the Feilding Cup recently, while Spear Lad was successful in the levin Handicap, one mile and a quarter. Pewa was second in the Spring Handicap, of similar distance, at Hastings, and he and Desert Song look the pick of the others. Most money may go on

COMPRIS KING COLOSSUS GAY CREST. The Two-year-olds. Despite the fact that Pillow Fight has 9.1 in the Nursery Handicap, he will have a large following after his success at Feilding and his two seconds in the only three races he has contested. Tout le Mond ran second to Inflation in the Spring Nursery Handicap at Ricearton last month, while Mister Quex has a win and two plaeings to his credit this season. Princess Bell, who has also eliown winning form, and Sir Pombal look the best of the others. The chief fancies may be PILLOW FIGHT : TOUT LE MOND • PRINCESS BELL.

The Sprint Race. Aston has been a good performer this season and should again run prominently in the Oete Handicap. Korokio won a double at Ricearton, and was also successful at Feilding. Royal Routine raced well at Feilding, while Great Charter is said to be well Curie and Royal Baby appeal most of the others. A trio that may be in request are ROYAL ROUTINE ASTON KOROKIO.

Mangarawa Handicap. Adelpli, who is at the head of the Mangarawa field, has not won for some time. Rotation won two seven-furlong events at Wairarapa meetings last season, while Arajean was fourth in the Fitzroy Hack Handicap, six furlongs, at Feilding, and Lady Court was third an hack sprint races at Levin and also at Feilding. GayCourt looks the best of the others. The principal fancies may be ARAJEAN ; GAY COURT LADY COURT. Whariti Handicap. The largest field of the day is carded for the Whariti Handicap. Saltpot, Fairway. Jayson, Flower, Rapallo, Patearoa and Beaconsfield have all been prominent this Mason, and probably the public may go for SALTPOT • JAYSON" : '" " FAIRWAY

The Concluding Event. The programme will conclude with the Borough Handicap, for which the best backed may be CHIEF COOK DESERT SONG MOA BIRD.
