WELLINGTON WOOL SALE
NAPIER RATES EQUALLED. YORKSHIRE AND CONTINENT KEEN. HEAVY WITHDRAWALS MADE. (By Telegraph.—Ovrn Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Wellington wool sale was commenced this morning. The total quantity catalogued was 23,26S bales, but there were heavy withdrawals and frequent passing. Yorkshire and Continent were keen for wools up to their restricted limits. There was a large attendance of the public and a full bench of buyers. Prices appear to be up to those ruling at Napier. The chairman of the Wellington Woolbrokers' Association, Mr. Hammond, remarked oh the good attendance of buyers and the general nature of the competition, but buyers, he said, were obviously operating on rigid limits. Low erossbreds and inferior wools were more or less neglected, and unfortunately the wool was opened up in not so attractive a condition as is usual at Wellington. The first sale at this centre lias hitherto been noted for the large percentage of superfine crossbrals offering, but so far this season these qualities have not come into the catalogues. The principal demand to-day was ; for halfbred, aiid these wools were slightly dearer. There Avas demand also for crossbreds, which were on a par with the rates ruling at the Napier sale laet week.
