RESCUED FROM FIRE.
TARANAXI FARMER AND CHILD < BROTHER'S TIMELY ARRIVAL. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Sunday. Trapped, by flames after he had re-entered * his burning home to rescue one of his children, Mr. J. Pollock, farmer, of Pihama, and the child were brought to safety by a brother, Mr. Duncan Pollock, who -had made a timely arrival. _ Mr. J. Pollock and his wife were awakened by the roar of flames late at night. The whole house was found to be ablaze, and both escaped hurriedly from their room in their night attire, Mrs. Pollock taking the younger child. On entering the other room to save the elder child, Mr. Pollock was overcome by smoke and was trapped by the spreading flames. The contents of the house were lost, including furniture, which was not insured. The house was one of the oldest in the district, and was owned by Mr. J. D. Conaglen, of Patiki Road.
