CANDIDATES' MAJORITIES.
LARGEST IN AUCKLAND
MINORITY REPRESENTATIVES.
Tho biggest? majority in the election was gained in Auckland, by Mr. W. P. Endean (CR), Avho topped the poll with a total of 6963, and a majority of 45G2. The second largest majority was gained by Mr. M. J. Savage, (L), who won the Auckland West seat with 4286 to spare. The Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes was next on the list, with 3902. Other large majorities were scored by Sir Apirana Ngata (CU, Eastern Maori), 3674; W. E. Parry (L, Auckland Central), 3561; F. Jones (L, Dunedin South), 3515; H. Holland (I/, Buller), 3309; S. G. Smith (CU, New Plymouth), 3277; H. G. Dickie (CR, Patea), 3234; H. T. Armstrong (L, Christchurch East), 3190; J. A. Lee (L, Grey Lynn), 3179; W. J. Jordan (L, Manukau), 3082; Hon. J. A. Young (CR, Hamilton), 3072; and D. G. Sullivan. (L, Avon), 3006. Close Contests. There were a number of close contests in the election, but the nearest wae at Rotorua, where Mr. C. H. Clinkard, (CU) is at present only eight ahead of Mr. A. F. Moncur (L). There are still 271 postal and absentee votes to come. In the voting for the Maori scats on Tuesday Tuiti Maketanara (CU, Southern Maori) was elected with a majority of 20. Mr. H. Atmore (I, Nelson) is still not assured of his seat as he is only 78 ahead of Mr. H. E. Everett (CR), and there are still between 300 and 400 absentee votes to come. The contest was keen in Dunedin Central, where Sir Charles Statham, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, finished 91 ahead of his Labour opponent, Mr. F. Nielson. Other narrow majorities were recorded by Mr. J. McCombs (L, Lyttelton), 105; Mr. J. Connolly (C.Lib.), who defeated the Kon. D. Jones in Mid- ' Canterbury by 91 votes (with 593 absentee and postal votes to come); A. Stuart (CR, Rangitikei), 114; A. S. Richards (L, Roskill), 173; and D. W. Coleman (L, Gisborne), 234. Itonorlty Victories.
Minority victories were recorded in the following electorates: —Auckland East, F. W. Schramm (L), 3G95, against 5100 recorded for his four opponents; Eden, A. J. Stallworthy (CU), 4557, against 6316; Roskill, A. S. Richards (L), 4661, against 7231; Rotorua, C. H. Clinkard (CU), 2913, against 5993; Tauranga, C. E. Macmillan (CR), 2981, against 4112; Gisborne, D. W. Coleman (L), 4162, against 5148; Stratford, W. J. Poison (CI), 3372, against 4559; Wellington North, C. H. Chapman (L), 4175, against 5267; Wairau, E. F. Healy (CU), 4142, against 4619; Christchurch North, H. Holland (CR), 5182, against 6503; Riccarton, H. S. S. Kyle (CR), 4105, against 6185; Mid-Canterbury, J. Oonholly (C.Lib.), 4159, against 4588; Timaru, C. L. Carr (L), 5010, against 6350; Waitaiki, J. Bitchener (CR), 3686, against 4339; Oamaru, J. A. Macpherson (CU), 3757, against 5274; Chalmers, A.E: Ansell (CR), 3624, against 3715; InyerITgill, J. Hargest (CR),. 4190.against 6754; and Southern Maori, Tuiti Makitanara (CU), 335, against 583.
