WAGE CUTS
' I, ae a Government employee, was cut £24- per year on £234, and I e!lso, of pay .an additional amount in levies, and from the remainder is' deducted 5 per cent for superannuation purposes. I pay 22/6 per week house rent. I lodged appeal for exemption, as-provided in-the Finance Act, 1931, on these grounds: I support a wife and five children totally dependent on me, including the eldest, 18 years of age, whose health" broke down in the middle of her school career. She has been confined to her bed, receiving medical, attention and treatment for 2J years,.and is iust ehowing improvement. My, savings have' gone in an? effort to restore her health! I am absolutely broken financially and have to 'dispense with the services of a doctor as.l am unable to pay him, and I won't take charity A bottle of medicine lasts four days. My eldest son has to leave the secondary school as I can't pay for any more books. 1 neither drink, smoke nor gamble, anc my familly have, bare necessities, and vet when I ask for justi# in my appeal for relief I am turned down and practhaVmember was Minister for Labour, Government be ,gnutj vl « s
