BARE LEGS.
In these latter days on the Riviera, writes our correspondent, rarely does one see any stockings at all now, and the brilliant tinting of toenails is universal. Equally universal is the oil habit. You start out in the morning carrying a large bottle of your favourite oil —the cosmetic manufacturers prepare various kinds, usually scented —and throughout the sunny hours you lend an anointing hand to your neighbours, who will do the same for you. Well-oiled, you recline upon the cushions on the rocks. At Eden Rock they have cushions like hinged mattresses. Folded up they form a seat, while opened out they are the right length- for lying down. Daily doses of physical jerks, however, must either precede or follow the sun-bathing. On one of the Garoupe beaches, adjoining Lord Aberconway's estate, a physical culture instructress from a French lycee conducts fashionable classes daily. Lord Aberconway's. _chateau, let to Americans this year, has a private beach.
