Knight of Australia Wins.-— High-weight to Tarporley.

iKThe Takapuna Jockey Club's spring meeting is being concluded to-day in fine though dull weather. There is a fair attendance, and the course is in excellent order.

Racing began with the Vauxhall Handicap, for which Kind Words and Hawfhorn were scratched, and Knight of. Australia (£386) got most support, with Lucidus (£366) and Limex (£289) also in demand. Limex, Avho was stood behind the field at the barrier, and Night Warrior got the worst of the start, and Royal Gallant was first out from Knight of Australia and Silene, then came Marjnorate, Rekaraurau, Star Lap, Golden fepahi and Amber Link. The favourite took charge crossing the top from Rekaratorau, Marmorate, Star Lap and Silene, and, turning for home, the order isvas Knight of Australia, Star Lap and gSilene,' with. Tatynoon and Rekaraurau next. In the run home the -favourite held his own and beat Silene by a length, with Star Lap a neck away. Tatyoon ma,s fourth, then came Click Clack, iUacrity, Bugle Call, Golden Spahi and ibaycoma. I An Inquiry. : An inquiry was held concerning the •two horses, Amber Link and Golden Sceptre, who fell crossing the top in the Vauxhall Handicap. The stewards foiuid that the evidence submitted was contradictory and most inconclusive, but were of the opinion that the accident may have been caused by Marmorate •(who was riden by Harwood) tiring, and they gave the rider the benefit of the fioubt. Favourite Unplaced. Royal Action and Stohehenge were not saddled up for the Kawau Highweight, in which Neil (£495), Patutahi (£414) and Tarporley (£403) carried the hulk of the money. As they passed the stand, Ruby Dawn had charge from Dominican, Neil, Cat-i-mes, Tarporley, Bizarro, Wiltshire and Patutahi. There was little change along, the back. Ruby Dawn and Dominican were on terms crossing the top, attended by Cat-i-me3, Neil and Tarporley. Cat-i-mes and Tarporley moved up entering the straight. The last-named stayed on best and got the verdict by two lengths from Dominican, who beat Cat-i-mes , by a similar margin. Ruby Dawn was fourth, then came Neil, Patutahi, Wiltshire and Bizarro. ■-•■.- An Easy Win. : . . When the field paraded for the Stanley Handicap, Good Idea and Rekaraurau were missing, and Ganpat (£476), Whakapara (£420) and Instalment (£293) were in most demand. When they had settled down, Moonfleet. led from Instalment, Whakapara, 'Lady Musk and Ganpat, followed by Carl Idem, Princess Bede and Camp Princess; Crossing the top Whakapara replaced Instalment, with Paper Dart, Princess Bede, Ganpat ' and Lady Musk' following., Whakapara took charge entering the straight, with Moonfleet, Paper Dart, Instalment and Princess Bede handy/ and he went on to win by a length from Princess Bede and Lady Musk, who dead* heated '-lot second place., Moonfleet was fourth, then came Paper Dart, Ganpat, Carl Idem and Instalment. .\- ' / The Sprint.

, . Paganelli and White Wings dropped put of the Cautley Handicap, in. which the chief fancies were Tea Chat ( £669), High Comedy ( £501) and Biddy's Boy (£476). Golden Wedding stood on the mark and took no part in the race, Tea Chat being the early leader from Biddy's Boy, High Comedy, King Ford, Royal Ruler and Hampton Park. High Comedy ran up into second place crossing the top, the,, pair being followed by King Ford, Royal Ruler, Hampton Park and Biddy's Boy. They turned for home in •that order and High Comedy finished on :£est to get the decision by one arid a Jialf lengths from Royal. Ruler, with King Ford a neck away.
