PROTESTANT POLITICAL ASSOCIATION.
(Published br Arrangement.)
Reply To Criticism.
Prior to the elections in 1928 Mr. A. .7. Stalhvorthy accepted the presidency of the Auckland provincial executive of the P;P.A. The .association put its vote and influence behind him and he was returned as the member for Eden, pledged, to support the platform and maintain the principles of the organisation. Protestants throughout Xew Zealand believe that he has deliberately jettisoned those principles, and, for the reason that the P.P.A. is not at this eloctiou prepared to pledge him the support be so much desires, he has denounced the association as "'unscrupulous" and "insidious." Such action oh his part was anticipated and lias caused the association .10 anxiety, for its members and sympathisers are competent to j'«lge whetner-he has, or has not, honourably maintained the pledge!; he accepted when he became actively- identified with the association. That they 'have determined to oppose him is sufficient proof of their attitude toward him. The P.P.A. still stands for the same ideals. Its motto, "Equal rights for ail, special privileges to none," remains unaltered, and its actions remain governed by the principles it professes. Its activities and literature distributed in the Eden electorate have been exclusively handled by the organisation's staff and membership.
