Commander Blames Admiral For Mishap. '•;
INTERFERENCE ALLEGED
HONGKONG, November 29.
Commander t>. C. Lang, captain of the British sloop Petersfield, which went ashore near Foochow on November 11 and became a total wreck, was tried by court-martial and severely reprimanded for hazarding the stranding of the vessel '.:"•..'■"> ■ ,
The captain alleged that Admiral W. A. H. Kelly, Commander-in-Chief of the China station, who was "on board at the time, had interfered with his command on three occasions, otherwise he would have stopped the ship an hour before the stranding.' He said Admiral Kelly told him to d well go on. He, was not there to do as he liked, but to obey orders. - • .:■ ■-.
