UNEMPLOYMENT FIGURES.
LAST WEEK'S TOTAL SMALLER OVER 12,000 WITHOUT WORK. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Saturday. A further decrease in the number of registered unemployed is shown in the figures for the week ended November 23, the total being 48,462, compared with 48,795 a week earlier. The highest number that has yet been recorded was in the first week in October, when the total was 51,408. The past seven weeks has thus shown a reduction of nearly 3000.' The number of men who were employed on part-time relief work in the week ended November 23, was 3C,145, and the number unplaced 12,314, a decrease of 580 for the week.
