FARM SALE DISPUTE.
The hearing of a lana sale dispute from the Bay of Islands district, in which a claim is made for £2449, was continued before Mr. Justice Smith in' the Supreme 'Court to-day. Plaintiffs, are Sir Henry Lindo Ferguson, a. Dunedin medical practitioner, Mrs. Anne Acton-Adams, of Dunedin, aiid Gerald Lindo Ferguson, of Waimate North, farmer. The defendant is Frederick Christian Hansen, farmer, of Waitoa. Further evidence was called for the plaintiffs! . Frances E. Barnard, manager for'., the North Auckland Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., at Dargaville. said that, as a farmer, Mr. Ferguson was a "rank failure." He did not give his full attention to his farm, but was prominent in local bddy activities and public movements in his district. Other witnesses to-day were Marjoria Lena Ferguson, wife of the plaintiff, G. Lindo Ferguson, and a Dunedin accountant, James H. ITotheringham, who as representative of the plaintiffs, had inspected second mortgages offered by Hansen in negotiating for the purchase of their farm" of 660 acres at Waimate North., The last-named witness said the difference between the price Hansen agreed to pay in the rescinded contract and the price for which the property was sold on November 1 last was arrived at on the basis of a drop in the price of butterfat from 1/1 to 10d a pound. The case is proceeding.
