RELIEF SCHEMES.
CHRISTCHURCH PROTEST,
PUBLICATION OF- CIRCULARS
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, this day
"We are not here to be treated like a lot of children," declared Mr. J. W. Beanland when the matter of the publication of the Unemployment Board's circulars was discussed at a meeting of the citizens' unemployment committee. "If the board thinks we are doing wrong it should set up a committee itself to do the work."
The board came in for some criticism as the result of its decision that its circulars, which usually had contained details of relief schemes, ehould generally not be made available for publication. *
It was stated on behalf of the board that newspaper reports of the, alleged promise to provide extra work for Christinas' had given a wrong impression.
