FIRST WEST TO EAST HOP

(Received' 11 a.m.)

LONDON, November 27

A message from St. Louis, West Africa, states that Bert Hinkler has arrived there. He will leave immediately for Port Btienno.

An earlier message from Rio de Janeiro, stated that Mr. Hinkler started from Port Natal yesterday, presumably on a flight to French West Africa, a distance &f 1500 miles. Hp was nor. heard from aft.er his start.

A Pernambuco message stated that otlu;r reports suggest that Mr. Hinkler wsJ flying toward the south instead of amiss the ocean. ' The news of his departure for Africa, therefore, was received with surprise there, because he stated several days that ho wis only making a pleasure trip around South America.

Reports received from, Dakar last night via Paris, as well as news agency reports, were to the effect that no news of Mr. Hinkler had been received.

A dispatch from London stated that the continued absence of news was causing increased anxiety.
