Mr. E. G. Gray, of Sydney, is at the Central Hotel. Colonel E. R. Smith, of Ihmedin, is at Hotel Stonehurst. Sir. B. C. Ashwin has "been appointed, second assistant secretary to the. Treasury. Mr. E. D. Andrews, the New Zealandtennis player now resident in England, has recovered from the operation which he underwent in London recently. Mr. H. Lloyd Wilkinson, of Remuera, who was licensed by the Auckland Presbytery, has completed a three years' divinity course at Knox College, Dunedin. Mr. P. Dwyer, ticket Inspector and coaching foreman at Thorndon station, Wellington, has retired after 32 years' service in the Ka'ilway Department. The Eev. J. E. Young, vicar of St. Mary's Church, Hawera, has accepted the charge of Christ Church, Wanganui, which was rendered vacant by the resignation of Archdeacon Creed Meredith, now resident in England. Mr. E. C. Hay-Mackenzie, manager of the Hawera branch of the Bank of New Zealand, is retiring, and will be succeeded by Mr. F. B. Wylds, who has been manager at Eltham for some years. Mr. E. Mulqueen has retired on superannuation after 46 years' service with the Union Steam Ship Company. Mr. Mulqueen joined the company in 1885 and served as purser on a number of steamers. He was afterwards appointed overseer for the company at Fiji and later held a similar position in Samoa. He was transferred to the Auckland office nine years ago-
