DEATH FROM INJURIES.
STRUCK BY WIRELESS MAST.

ACCIDENT ON QUAIL ISLAND.

CHRISTCHURCH, Friday.
John Annan, aged 58, received fatal injuries when an iron wireless mast fell on him at Quail Island to-day.
An official of the Health Department, the deceased, with others, was engaged in dismantling and burning the buildings at the old leper station. The work had been completed, except for taking down two 60ft iron masts. Some of the stays on one had been released when the pole fell on Mr. Annan. He received a compound fracture of the skull and arm.
Aid was summoned from Lyttelton and the patient was removed to Christchurch Hospital. He died just as the ambulance reached the institution.
