EGGS ADVANCE ONE PENNY.

BIG SUPPLIES OF STRAWBERRIES. ISLAND FRUIT PLENTIFUL. Eggs firmed one penny per dozen this week, but within one month of Christmas 1/2 per dozen is still a low figure. Butter, cheese, hams and bacon are all unaltered in price. Welcome rain fell since last report, which should ensure plenty of strawberries for Christmas time. Supplies of this fruit have been heavy this week, and prices rule easier, ranging from 1/ to 1/6 per chip, while for Captain Cooks 1/6 to 1/9 is asked. Raspberries are now offered at 1/6 to 1/8 per chip, and Sydney cherries at 1/6 to 2/ per lb. Pines are in good supply, and range in price from 6d to 1/ each. Lemons appear to be plentiful, and fruit, not cured, can be got at from 12 to 16 for one shilling. Oranges are cheap just now, Island selling at from 1/ to 1/6 per dozen, and Sydney up to 2/ per dozen. Watermelon is marked 3d per lb, English gooseberries being now more plentiful sell from 3d to 5d per lb, according to quality and ripeness. Hothouse tomatoes are olfered at 10d to 1/ per lb, and for Stunner apples the price is now 6d per lb. A large shipment of Fiji and Samoan bananas arrived by the Tofua, but not in time to ripen for the coming week-end. Vegetables are being sent in freely, the new potatoes being particularly _ fine this season. Celery is still plentiful, and asparagus is now offered at 9d per bundle, an advance on the price last week. Supplies of fish were scarce this week. Quotations to-day are as follow: — Eggs.
