SEVERAL FAST SPRINTS,
CHRYSOLOGY AND MONARCHY IMPRESS. .
Although there were light showere over- 3r night, the tracks were in good order, an 3% the going fast for the final gallops, prior'! to the Takapuna meeting, at. Ellerslie . this morning. The course proper, with the poles 25ft out from the rails, was open, the Xo. 3 grass track and tan being also available.
The Course Proper. : '-gg The first to work were Stimulant, Graiiti Spirit and Restaurant, who were sent sit furlongs, running the first three in 38s, and the full distance in 1.17 3-5. This was a good effort, the first pair finishing on j terms, with Restaurant some lengths away. Desert Star strode over six furlongs in 1.22 4-5, but could have improved on the;? time. Patutahi and Cat-i-mes were allotted a round, running the distance in ( 2.11 1-5, the last six furlongs taking 1.23. J Patutahi finished on the better of the pan;.;, Speedfast put plenty of dash into a halfmile sprint, which he completed in. 51 4-s=. Sir Mond, Te Money and United were in that order at the end of five furlongs, " which occupied 1.3 3-5. Sir Mond did his;'? work well, and Te Money also shaped better than usual. Brampton and Neil were sent over a mile, running the first half in 555, and the full distance in Lsi 1-5. They were going well within themselves at the finish. Royal Gallant gave Whirlalong a start, and was doing bestial the end of half a mile, run in 52 1-i. Excella Tea was Worked over sis furlongs, running the first three in 425, and the fuli distance in 1.23 1-5. Tatyoon and Moonfleet were sent five furlongs, and completed their task in 1.4 3-5, Tatyoon pleasing most." Over a similar distance 6ood*&' Idea and Hawthorn recorded 1.5-4-5, the •; first two furlongs being run in 23 2-os. The beet half-mile of the morning. was-||i registered by Chrysology. and Monarchy., They had a fair amount of pace on when i they jumped off. and after running the first furlong in 12s, completed the distance in 495. This was a first-class gallop, ana Chrysology, who had the outside-running, appeared to be doing the better of the pair at the finish, though Monarchy also impressed by the manner in which he moved. Hampton Park jumped off at the five-furlong post, running the first two furlongs in 25 l-ss, and wound up his gallop in 1.6 1-5. He was going comfortably at the finish.
After Breakfast. Morehu was not doing her best while running three furlongs in 40 l-ss. Tbe Takapuna Cup candidate Catoma was sent over a round, with Llanore to bring hira home over the last six furlongs. He ran the distance in 2.3 2-5. the last si* f ur " longs taking 1.20 2-5. Llanore was goin? easily in front at the finish, registering 1.20. Tarporky, Kawainga and Bizarro were companions over five furlongs, running the first two in 24 4-ss. and completing their work in 1.5 4-5. Tarporley was doing best at the finish.
No. 3 Grass. Wishbone and Golden Sceptro given useful work, running their last three furlongs in 42 4-ss. Golden Spalii strode over sis furlongs, but was not timwKilfcow.vn sprinted a few furlongs, Oil' shied halfway down tlic straight and ran off the track. Glenhaupo. who dh-' done little fast work, sprinted three iur' longs in 42 4-ss.
On the Tan. Sir Archie, carrying a good freight, vat timed to run four furlongs in 53 -'*• Wild Country also worked on this trac. but was not aft-or time. Vandyke totimed to run his last five furlongs w i--2-5. but could have done consl Y ra ..". better. Light Step and Vilma got to t end of four furlongs in 545. They 'er on terms at the finish. Dominican Royal Action, after cantering once roun , ran six furlongs in 1.22 4-5. Dominican twai hie companion by a dozen lengths. The Jumpers. Golden Wedding (H. Dulitu) ' safe display over four hurdles, but did have much pacc on. Other horses to do useful tasks Ruling King. Supreme Ruler, trouprOperatic, March Along, Muscadine, 0 Clack, Lady Derision.
