OPENING RATES.

LONDON, November 25,
At the wool sales 10,879 bales were offered, including 3950 New Zealand. About 7630 -were sold. There were some withdrawals, owing to high limits. Opening rates were maintained. New Zealand slipe quarterbred lamb, WME Co.: Top price 12 %d, average 12% d. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agenc" Co., Ltd., advise that they haA e received the following advice from their London house, under date November 24:— There wag a full attendance at the opening of the sales to-day, competition by HSnae and Continental buyers being irregular. As compared with last sales closing rates, prices are higher Id to per lb for scoured crossbred, crossbred slipe and scoured Merino; %d to Id per lb higher for medium greasy crossbred, coarse greasy crossbred, and greasy Merino: and 2d per lb higher for fine greasy crossbred. The opening catalogues were representative. The Bank of New Zealand has received the following report from its London office, under date of 24th irust.: —The sales have opened with strong competition, and a large attendance of buyers. There is an active demand by all branches of the trade, particularly the home trade. There is an active demand for all wool. Compared with the close of last series coarse crossbred.? are a ted higher, medium crossbreds are ted to ?4d higher, and fine crossbreds are to 2d higher.
