TE RAPA CONTINGENT.

BAROSCOPE'S PROSPECTS,

PERSHAM ALSO FANCIED.

Baroscope is being looked upon as a light-weight in the Alison Gup who wall go well. The Weathervane — Tortrix three-year-old colt appears to be striking form. He ran fourth in the Cambridge Handicap of six furlongs at the Waikato •meeting, while at his next start he was third in the Hamilton Handicap, one mile, when he did not have the best of it in the running. Reports indicate that Baroscope has been working well at Te Rapa of late and A. Tinker's representative will strip a fit horse on Saturday. Schooled Over Hurdles. Of recent times Hit the Deck has been given some schooling over hurdles at Te Rapa. The Nassau—Opera gelding is to race 011 the flat at Takapuna. He is in the Plate and the Tiri High-weight Handicap on Saturday. The fact that H. Tinker has been announced as his rider points to Hit the Deck undertaking the high-weight event. Ho was third in his opening start afc the Waikato, while he won afc his next appearance. Those races were at a mile, so that Hit the Deck is likely to go the extra furlong on Saturday quite readily. It looks like him being one of the hardest to beat. Wiltshire's Return. Wiltshire is among the Waikato contingent for racing in high-weight company afc Takapuna, where lie will be ridden by his trainer, R. C. Syme- The son of Day Comet and Lady Lobelia has not started since the early spring, but has got through a fair amount of work lately and looks well, while in a gallop on Tuesday at Te Rapa he hit out freely. A race would bring about an improvement, tout Wiltshire is not heavily burdened on Saturday, for which reason he is likely to shape well. Has Done* Well. Persliam has done well at Te Rapa since his victory at the Waikato meeting. The Lackham colt comfortably defeated his stablemate, Priuccss Bode, over six furlongs on Tuesday morning, when there was very little difference in the weights. Both are to start in the Plate on Saturday at Takapuna, and of this pah- from A. Tinker's stable Persham will make most appeal.
