PAPATOETOE TOWN BOARD
The Papatoetoe Town Board met on Tuesday evening, Mr. W. J. Nicholson, chairman, presiding. Traffic Signs.—Comment was made by the traffic inspector, Mr. A. Breed, on the confusion to traffic caused by the lack of direction signs at the intersection of the Great South Road and St. George Street, near the Papatoetoe School. It, was decided to ask the Auckland Automobile Association to erect the necessary signs. . , Water for State Houses.—ln regard to the board's action in cutting off the water supply from houses in the Papatoetoe area, which had reverted to the Crown, the State Advances Department stated that it had power to secure the continuation of the supply through Supreme Court action. The board decided to refer the matter to the Auckland Suburban Local Bodies' Association. Water Connections. — The b<?ard approved of sixteen applications from .Manukau county ratepayers for connection with ithe Papatoetoe water supply. Swimming Pool Scheme. —In view of the fact that the Pukaki inlet of the Manukau, which had been suggested as a suitable location for a swimming pool, is adjacent tb the oemetery site, the board decided to abandon the idea of erecting a stop-bank. • '■ • , ■ • Fire Insurance. —The board decided to submit to the Underwriters' Association that fire insurance premiums in Papatoetoe should be reduced, in view of the efficiency of the Papatoetoe Volunteer Fire Brigade. Tennis Club. —A request from the Papatoetoe Tennis Club for the use of the land between their present courts and the school house for new courts was referred to the reserves committee.
