CORNER FOR BUSY BEES

A PERFUME PINCUSHION.

WITH RIBBON AND GOLD LACE.

Dear Girls, —-

Have you ever heard of a perfume pincushion? It is a delightful acces" sory for the dressing table and is a pincushion and a phial of perfume combined Although it is so dainty it is very simply made and takes but a few minutes. You will need one yard of ribbon four inches wide and a shade to match the colour scheme of your room.N a quarter of a yard of narrow jold lace, a piece of lining to match the ribbon 15 inches by 4 inches, a small phial of perfume about three inches high, with stopper and screw top, a little cardboard and some bran. These directions are for a pincushion about the size of an orange, but should your phial be larger allowance must be made for this and all measurements "increased in proportion. Take a piece of thin cardboard to fit round the phial to the height of the screw top. This top must not be covered. Cut sufficient to roll round the phial twice. Take a piece of lining to cover this, turning the edges over at the top and bottom. Roll

around the phial with the covered side inside. Stitch to keep in position and take out the phial.

Now take a piece of lining measuring 101 inches by 4 inches, with selvedge along one edge, and join up the short ends with quarter-inch turnings. Gather up the selvedge edge, draw up tightly and fasten securely. Fasten one end of the covered roll to the inside of this lining in the centre. Turn in half an inch at the upper edge and gather up with double thread. Stuff well with bran, then draw up the thread and sew lightly to the outer edge of the roll in the centre. Now take three-quarters of a yard of the ribbon and join to form a circle. Gather at the top and bottom and also halfway between. Slip over the cushion and draw .up the top threaa to fit the centre roll and sew lightly to the inner edge of the roll. Draw up the other threads to fit round the cushion and arrange the ribbon evenly

The bottom should be drawn up tightly and secured well. Join the ends of the gold lace, gather this up and sew round the upper edge of the roll. 1 i Cut a circle of cardboard to the size of a penny, cover with double silk and secure to the bottom with a little mucilage. When the phial of perfume is inserted in the centre it is ready to grace your dressing table or that or a friend.
