What is the cause of sleep? The question long puzzled scientists. One theory 13 that sleep is due to complete muscular c tion, either voluntary or involuntary, "lea a person lies down, the visual sensations become monotonous, and muscular reaction, removing the impulses which usually pour into the brain from the muscles, tendons and joints, precipitates the condition called sleep.
