CAUGHT BY FALLING TREE.

VOUNG MAN m SERIOUS STATE,
(By Telegraph,—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. A serious accident occurred to Clarcice Hay, a single man, aged 25, when felling bush with his father on their firm at Parua Bay yesterday. A tree ? falling hit another tree, and, reboundcaught both men. The father was °% slightly injured, but his son was rendered unconscious by receiving a av y blow on the head. A sacking stretcher was improvised an i on this the young man was carried ? rer extremely rough country to the Muse. His father then drove him to hospital, which was reached at 7 "clock three hours after the accident. Mr. Hay's injuries comprise a fracture j> the base of the skull and injuries to e hrain. He spent a fair night and ore M'e is now entertained of his Ecoverv, but his condition is still carded as very serious.
