MAY ACCEPT WORK.
EXTRA SLAUGHTERMEN.
UNION ORDER REVOKED ?
NO REASON FURNISHED,
It is understood that slaughtermen, additional to those already engaged, are now willing, and are permitted "by their union, to accept work at the local freezing works. The local delegates of the New Zealand Freezing Workers' Union informed the works managers of the Auckland freezing companies this morning that the men who had previously ibeen forbidden to allow their services to be engaged were now willing to accept employment. No reason was given by the delegates.
Last Thursday the instructions' from the union, that additional men were iiot to accept engagement until the existing award had 'been considered >by the Arbitration Court in Christchurcih, were
made known to the freezing works employers. A call for additional slaughtermen was made at Wcetfield on Thursday, when the management was informed "by the workers' delegate that no extra men could be engaged.
