LONDON TALLOW MARKET,
A GOOD DEMAND,
The Bank of New Zealand has received the following advice _ from its London office, under date 4th inst.:— Tallow. —There is a good demand. Current quotations:—Good mutton, 24/3 to 25/3 per cwt; good beef, 25/6; good mixed, 25/ to 25/3; gut, 18/8 to 20/.
THE PRICE OF GOLD. LONDON, November 4. The price of gold is £5 10/3 per oz. LONDON TALLOW MARKET. (Received 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, November 4. At the tallow sales 422 casks were offered and all sold at 3/ advance. Quotations are:—Mutton: Pine, 25/6 per cwt; medium, 22/. Beef: Pine, 27/6 per cwt; medium, 22/.
WHEAT CARGOES. (Received 12 noon.) LONDON, November 4. Cargoes are quiet and mostly lower owing to appreciation of sterling exchange. Parcels are obtainable at 6d to 1/ down, with no buyers about. Futures, London, December, 27/3 per quarter; February, 27/9; June, 29/; Liverpool, December, 5/11% .per cental; March, May, 6/5. DAIRY PRODUCE. Messrs. Joseph Nathan and Co., have receivid the following cable from their Lonion principals, Messrs. Nathan and Trengrouse, dated London, November 4:— Butter. —Sellers pressing for orders, 113/ to 118/. Cheese.—White and coloured, 68/. Market quiet. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency have received a cable from their London office, dated the 4th inst., to the following effect:— Butter—Finest, 118/ to 119/; first grade, 114/ to 115/. Cheese.—6B/ to 69/. Market very slow.
