The first daily newspaper was "The Daily Courant." It first appeared on March 11, 1705. The first evening paper was the "Evening Post," 1721. The oldest daily still in existence is the "Morning Post," 177 2 - Tlie firsfc newspaper was the "Weekeley News," which appeared on August 2, 1622. It was edited and issued by Nathaniel Butters, who proposed to continue it with "God's Assistance."
