SWISS ATMOSPHERE.

IN NEW ZEALAND FACTORY.

An outstanding instance of the efforts of the Anglo-Swiss Milk Co., Ltd., to establish here in the Dominion an ideal factory for the manufacture of ; their well known brand of Nestles Chocolates, is afforded by the fact that a special air compressor has been installed to ensure a cool, dry atmosphere similar to that of Switzerland. This, it is stated, is essential for the manufacture of perfect chocolates. In the storerooms also alpine conditions are maintained by means of refrigerating machinery. Visitors to the factory also state that the huge white concrete structure situated at St. George's Bay Road, Auckland, offers an object lesson in modern manufacturing methods. Floors are tiled to ensure perfect cleanliness, and the various machineis that assist in the making of high-grade chocolates and confections, such as refining machines,, the "conching" machines, the. dipping, cutting and wrapping machines, as well as those for moulding the "soft centres," are the most up-to-date that can be secured.

One hundred and thirty New Zealanders are employed in this' modern factory, and with the exception of cocoa beans, which are not grown' in _ this country, all ingredients used in the manufacturing process are New Zealand primary products. Careful inspection of these ingredients before using, and a vigorous checking of article, have maintained a uniformly high standard of quality.
