TE AWAMUTU TRACK.
HORSES FOR TE RAPA. MOTERE, ROYAL RULER AND PEGAWAY. i The most forward of those engaged at the Waikato spring meeting are Mareclial, Motcre, Royal Ruler and Pegaway. The lastnamed will be having his first race this season, but should acquit himself creditably. Mareclial, Royal Ruler and Motere have all had recent racing and should be capable of first-class efforts.
Llanfyliyn figures among the Trial Stakes candidates, and as this filly has been undergoing a very solid preparation over the hills and has muscled up considerably since her last appearance, and has a nice turn of speed, she should run a very solid race. The opposition may be a little too strong for Kairuri in the Waimai Hurdles. Nevertheless, he has been working well and- is in good condition. This will be his first appearance over hurdles for some time.
Limeen, Rose Lupin and Teels are in the Hautapu Hack Handicap. Of this trio Teels and Limeen are working best, Rose Lupin having recently shown signs of soreness. _ Teels may be short of a race, but she is doing her tasks in a very attractive manner and will strip in good order. W. Stone also has Motere among the Cup field. This gelding has been getting through solid work, moving along in a very free manner, and be should be among the early winners.
R. Savage has Erination in nice shape, and as this gelding has plenty of pace he should not be disgraced in his first public appearance.
Miss Lorraine is another filly to display speed, and as she shows no ill-effects after her mishap on Saturday she will go to the post in fine fettle for her first public appearance.. The Cambridge Handicap nominees Royal Ruler, Marechal, Pegaway and Leitrim have all performed well in the past and should continue to do well this season.
