WHANGAREI ASSOCIATION,
AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS. .Results at the amateur tournament held by the Whangarei Boxing Association last evening were:—R. B. Thompson, 10.12 (Auckland), stopped B. McConnell. 12.0 (Whangarei), in the first 30 seconds. A Tamblyn, 9.7 (Whangarei) and G. Hodkinson, 9.6 (Hikurangi).. fought a draw. I>. Cherrington, 12.2 (Whangarei), won in the second round on a technical knock out from I/. Dwyer, 11.2 (Whangarei). S. Bignell, 9.4, beat D. Wise, 9.6.
A comedy was provided between F. Boyd. 11.0 (Towai), and T. Campbell, 10.12 (Maungakaramca). The decision went to Campbell. A. Steers, 10.6 (Hikurangi), disposed of ,T. Wilson, 10.S (Towai), in the second round. .T. Nash. 5.3 (Tangiteroria). and Q. Painter, 5.4 (Whangarei)," took part in an exhibition in which Xasli was the winner. Evans, 9.7 (Auckland), won from A. Howie, 9.7 (Whangarei). R. B. Thompson, 10.12 (Auckland), had a second bout against C. White, 13.S (Whangarei), and won in the second round. R. McLachlan, 9.11 (Auckland), defeated T. Harman, 10.3. J. Cossill, 12.4 (Whangarei), defeated P. E. McCarthney, 12.S (Auckland). This was Cossill's last amateur contest.
