At the second series of wool sales, competition ■ was very' animated for the 13,634 bales on offer. Prices were 5 per cent higher than those ruling at. the close of the Sydney sales last week.
Practically a total clearance was effected.
At Melbourne the result of the October series of auctions Shows the level of values ruling at the close to be 74 lier cent to 19 per cent above the opening rates. , >,
RUSSIAN WHEAT.
NO EXPORTS FOR TWO. YEARS

\A copyrighted cable from its European correspondent to "The Globe" states that it can be said definitely that Russia will export no wheat this year or next. The . statement is attributed to M. Dougalevsky, the Soviet Ambassador to France.
A Winnipeg message states that following news that Russia is experiencing difficulty in fulfilling her export contracts,*"' indications lead to the belief that she will be unable to make further exports for the next two years.

The improved wheat situation brings the announcement from the International Harvester Co. that 300 men will resume their jobs immediately, while the Firestone Rubber Co. state that their plant will be working at full capacity by Saturday. • .
