AUCKLANDEBS' CATCHES.
According to latest reports from Taupo, the river fish in that district are in excellent condition.. An Auckland angler who spent the week-end at Pyes camp on the Waikato, just above the Huka Falls, says fishing was very plea-, sant and satisfactory. Commander Prentice, of H.M.s. Philomel, caught nine trout, Mrs. Prentice five, Mr. C.' J. McCulloch six and Mrs. McCulloch two, and Mr. M. H. Tisdall took the limit—fifteen fish._ They were all nice fish, in fine condition, and they ran up to sJlb. All were caught on the nymph. Conditions were excellent and there were splendid rises just at dusk in the evenings. On the lake itself people trolling from the launches met with universal success. Reports from the Tongariro showed that the world-famed river is just as popular and as prolific as ever. On the Waitahanui the fly-men had a somewhat disappointing week-end. At Rotorua two Hamilton anglers took the limit on the Ngongotaha. The condition of the Rotorua fish this season has not been outstanding so far.
