The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 31st ultimo, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Tallow.—Auction will be held on November 4. Market firm. Fair business clone for shipment. Spot quotations notfurially unchanged. Hemp—Manila: Market active and prices have advanced, "K" grade for November/January shipment sold up to £19 5/. Sisal: Market firmer and Rood business lias been done at better prices. Closing values for December/February shipment are: No. 1 good marks, £16 10/: fair average quality, £15 15/; No. 2, £14 10/ to £15. New Zealand: Market quiet. Nothing offering here and. values nominally unchanged. Peas.-*Maplcs: Demand for imported quiet. Small business has been done in new crop. No. 1 New Zealand Partridge for March or April shipment at 52/6 to 52./, and' "A" grade Tasmanian for February or March shipment, 54/6 to 54/. Blues, near positions, 3/ to 4/; distant, 2/0 to 3/ dearer. BRADFORD TOPS. (Received 12.15 p.m.) LONDON, November 2. The Bradford market is firm, with a good demand, especially for fine crosfcbreds. PRICE OF GOLD. Gold is quoted at £o 8/2 per oz. WHEAT MARKET FIRM, (Received 12.15 p.m.) WINNIPEG, November 2. For the first time since the current futures were presented for trading, wheat vaulted over the 70-cent mark here to-day, with net gains of 294 to 3 cents a bushel. The steadily increasing investment-buying is mainly responsible, though the export market is favourable. LONDON, November 2. Cargoes are firm and a shilling up on higher American closing, the reports of Russia cancelling contracts and further depreciation in sterling. Futures: London, December, 27/4 per quarter; February, 27/10; June, 28/10; Liverpool, December, 5/10% per cental; March, 6/1%; May, 6/3%. CHICAGO WHEAT VALUES. (Received 11 a.m.) CHICAGO, November 2. Wheat for delivery in December is quoted at 63 cents per bushel, for delivery in March at 66% cents, for May delivery 67% cents, and for July 68% cents.
