ONEHUNGA COUNCIL.
A meeting of the Onehunga _ Borough Council was. .held last night, Mr. L. Morton, the Mayor, presiding.
Drainage Loan. —An Order-in-Council will be gazetted consenting to the raising of the Angle Street drainage loan 0: £4850 for 'a term of 36Ms years, with interest at s%'per. cent and a sinking tunc, of one per cent. Authority was received from the Board of Health to proceed with the work.
Manukau Foreshore. —The Mayor reported that he had received a deputation from the Auckland Harbour Board with reference to the lOV2 acres of land of the Manukau foreshore which _ the council wished to. have vested in it. and satisfactory arrangements had been r.iade, t.ic deputation agreeing to recommend to the board that the council be granted a .sufficient area at the mouth of the basin to enable the road', to be constructed. .1 he report was received. The works committee is to report further after viewing the foreshore. The Manukau Cruising Club asked that the work on the road be delayed until a wall is built to give protection to the boats. lhe club stated that the basin was the only boat harbour they had, and a great hardship would oc inflicted if they had to vacate this sliGitev. The council has already provided a suitable anchorage for the boats and the Cruising Club is to be informed accordingly.
Seddon Memorial.—The foreman _ 0: works reported with regard to complaint* about the delay in completing the renovation of the Seddon Memorial that the work entailed great care. The cost in wages to date was £13 2/6. as against the tendered prices of £25 to £30.
Complaint.—Mr. S. Whiter complained to the council that some relief workers engaged on the council reserve' at Hil'isboro' had taken several tons of_ firewood from his sections adjoining. Some had been taken away by boat and some in the council's lorry. He alleged that 111011 had taken his firewood when they were supposed to be doing the council s worx, and he asked the council to protect li's property from further depredations. !!vMayor informed the council ■ that tile sexton in charge of the Hillsboro' cemetery had questioned the accuracy or Mr., Winter's letter. The council resolve.i that any employee found trespassing on Mr. W-hiter's property would be di«; missed. Mr. Morton said that relie:
workers were employed by another hkm! body in the vicinity of the cemetery.
