DESTRUCTOR COMMITTEE.
TAKAPUNA RESOLUTION.
A step in the direction of terminating the position of stalemate concerning the management of the North Shore destruc. tor "was taken by the Takapuna Borough last evening. 'The parties concerned; in the ownership, of the plant are the Devonport, Takapuna and Northcote Borough Councils.
Last evening Devonport Council notified Takapuna that it was prepared to seek legislation to validate the existing agreement between the partner boroughs, which agreement had been declared ultra vires.
The Mayor, Mr. Guiniven, moved: "That the Takapuna Borough Council is ■ opposed to any special legislation being enacted, and resolves that unless Devonport and Xorthcote take immediate steps to set up a joint committee in accordance with sub-section 2 of section 52 of the' Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, this council will recall its representatives on the present committee and cease to take any further active interest in the management, and operation of the destructor."
After a, frank discussion the motion was carried, the Mayor remarking that the matter now became one for the respective solicitors of the three boroughs, who would have to see that the joint committee, if formed, was on a proper legal basis.
