£ FRENCH PLEBISCITE. (Received 1 p.m.) x • LONDON, November 1. Probably there is a little of the sour grapes element in the following French assessment of the world's records. The newspaper "L'Auto" conducted a~plebiscite as to the most popular record-holder. It resulted,as follows:—N,urmi, runner, first; Ladoumergue, rumior, second; then came a collection of minor athletes before Flight-Lieutenant Stainfbrth, who was eighth.
