Saturday morning is usually quiet on the :ocal Stock Exchange, and to-day was ho ,'Xception- Of the three sales recorded at -he morning call one had been made late yesterday. In the fresh bidding the activity of the last few days was lacking, but recent price gains were mostly held, and there were not many changes from yesterday's quotations. In the banking .section Commercials eased slightly, with idlers at 16/ and buyers back to io/b. Australasias, on the other hand, moved up, with buyers at £8 15/. The insurance section was strong, and buyers for South British raised their imits to £2 11/6, whereupon holders aioved up to £2 15/. Nationals were asked tor at 12/, and Standards at £2. In the woollen section both Mosgxels and Wellingtons were wanted. _ £5 5/ was offered for Mosgiels. The scrip is £5 paid to £4, and the usual 10 per cent dividend las just been announced. In Government stocks , A Y as offered for the tax frees, and £99 5/ for ;he sft (1937).
