WORK AT ELLERSLIE.

A QUIET MORNING

CAT-I-MES AND GOOD BOY

SCHOOLED.

Rain fell overnight, but the going was not affected at Ellerslie for-training work this morning. There were two gallops on the course proper, oil which the poles were out 25ft, the rest of the work being done on the No. 2 grass.

The Course Proper. Sir Mond and Taneriri jumped off at the mile post, Brampton assisting them home over the last six furlongs. The first two -furlongs took 26 l-ss; four, 53 l-os, and the full distance in 1.48. The final six furlongs occupied 1.21 4-5. Sir Mond, who was on the outside, was doing best at the finish. Brampton also shaped well. Wild Country, Art Gallery and Lady Court were to : have gone five furlongs, but the last named broke away on her own. and completed the distance in 1.7 2-5, Wild Country and Art Gallery taking 1.7 4-5. 7<Jo. 2 Grass.

Karangapai completed a half-mile task in 5.1 2-ss, doing his work well. Hawthorne covered three furlongs comfortably in 42 4-ss, Stimulant and Rikanui taking 39 l-5s for a similar distance. Neil and Bonny Mumble strode over half a mile in 58s, Tetrarchate covering a furlong less in 39 4-ss. Marchette and the General Latour filly ran half a mile in 51 3-ss, Ecalus taking 53 3-5s for the, same distance. Gay Cockade traversed a round in 1.52 4-5.. He was under a strong pull till the last three furlongs, which took 38 2-ss. Others to do useful work were Gold Money, Ruling King, Pal, Te Money, Puriri Park, Restaurant, Autahi, Royal Gallant, Speedfast, Catoma, Tatyoon, Moonfleet, Land Measure, Good Idea, Full Measure, Patutahi, Rose Latour, Tarporley, Golden 'Wedding and United.

The Jumpers. Great Emblem (H. Dulieu) was given a further schooling lesson over a pony hurdle. He got tangled up in the fence once, but extricated himself cleverly. He also baulked once, but when tried again jumped well. Cat-i-nics (J. Burgess) and Good Boy (C. Butler) gave their best display to date over a round of the schooling hurdles.
