CLOSING TO-MORROW.
BAILWAY DINING ROOM
NOT SUFFICIENT PATRONAGE
After mid-day to-morrow the dining room at the Auckland railway station will be closed. The majority of the staff ■will be employed in other refreshment rooms controlled by the refreshment branch of the Railway Department, and the supervisor has been transferred to another department. , The refreshment rooms have not received much patronage for some time past, and six weeks ago it was found necessary to close the tearoom, which ie separate. The- economy of serving liffht refreshments in the dining room has not been sufficient, and as there has 'been no patronage, it will also be closed. The dining room in the baeement, which provides cheaper meals, and which is used by the staff as well as the public, will' also be closed. So indication has Been given when the room will reopen, and it is not the intention of the Department to lease it. No instructions have yet been received about the disposal of tables, chairs, crockery and cutlery. . The barber's ehop, the fruit stall and the newstaiid,which are also run. by the 4x*>to&.<eUy3ed*
