Sheil, aviation officer for the Vacuum Oil Company, returned to Wellington last evening. Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Nathan, of Palmerstoii North, who have been on a visit to Europe, will arrive in Wellington at the end of next month. Mr. J- W. McCoy, of Auckland, left by the Ulimaroa to-day on a business visit to Sydney and Melbourne. He will be away for about two months. ,\ The Rev. Peter E. Goulet arrived by the Ventura from San Francisco this morning. He is on his way to join the Fathers of the Blessed Sacrament at St. Francis Church, Melbourne. Mr. 0. A. Cadwallacler, of Greytown, Wairarapa, lias been appointed judge of pedigree Friesians at the Royal Agrip cultural Society's Show to be held in Christchurch in November.

Mr. V. Brooks, chief postmaster at Blenheim, will retire at the end of this month, after 38 years' service with the Government. Mr. Brooks,intends taking up his residence in Auckland, following a tour of the North Island in November.

At a meeting of the Honorary Justices' Association in Wellington this week, Mr. John L. Arpus, J.P., was unanimously elected honorary registrar in succession to the late Mr. Isaac Salek. Mr. Her r bert Seaton, J.P., was elected to the office of deputy-registrar.

Mr. H. A. Palmer, a barrister of the Inner. Temple, London, arrived in Wellington from England tthis week. Mr. Palmer, who represents Butterworth and Company, is editor in control of the annotated reprint of the New Zealand Statues, and he will act in consultation with the New Zealand Editorial Board, consisting of the Chief Justice, the Attorney-General and the Parliamentary draftsman.
